Teachers and Clay is a modified version of a handout I created for a teacher workshop. It include suggestions for working with kids in a classroom or club setting. If you are just starting with clay this section contains basic information that will help you avoid some of the beginner’s usual problems and concerns. There is a discussion of basic materials and costs. Finally, there are a number of detailed lesson plans with suggestions for using the lessons with eleven to fourteen year olds.
Teachers and Clay is meant for teachers and club leaders who wish to use clay as part of their art or craft program. The activities are meant to introduce junior and intermediate age (10 to 14yrs) young people to making a basic pinch pot and then using that pinch pot as a starting point for other clay projects.
